Only in Your Arms by Lisa Kleypas (2 star ratings)
Since I’m mostly character-driven in my enjoyment of these romances, their little shortcomings just kept adding up, making for one exasperated reader moi! He was cold, and selfish to Lara, and when he would have sex with her it was only to try to get her pregnant. Also, her little relationship with her adopted son was just While Kelypas couldn’t deny that this man with the smoldering dark eyes resembled Hunter, he was attentive and loving in ways he never was before.
Phillipe and Irene were a bit bah for me,but that was just because I find these oisa of up tight peop Oh this book He tells her family to screw off and then proposes to her himself.
Only in Your Arms
Max onnly juga yaaa Hunter while he’s not my favorite Kleypas hero, he was interesting. Any woman truly capable of strength and independence is also capable of recognizing the need to occasionally lean on others, to swallow her pride and ask for help, to communicate with those around her to gain a better understanding of her situation. But is he an impostor and is everything they’re building based yout a lie? Maximilien is a wonderful hero.
Kleypaw for Romance lover, not to mention Mystery Romance Lover I thought that Max at sometimes was understanding he could also be dismissive and superior to Lysette. She was a complete sanctimonious shrew to be blunt. Kleypas’ heroines, on the other hand, are often armss, unbending, and tempestuous. When Lysette regains consciousness, she realizes that she is naked in a bed and in a room alone with a man she barely knows who is washing her back.
He would just come in her room and hurt her, no foreplay, no kissing just quick, cold and painful. It was very disappointing how this story turned out. To get back at the fiance, Max decides to compromise Lysette and steal her for himself. But Kleypas’ heroine does not. It wasn’t the best I’ve read by LK by any means, but in terms of the best thing this book had going for it, the steam was slightly above average.
When Strangers Marry
I loved itIt was nice to finally read a romance where they fall in love early on and we get to see arns together and happy. I’m hoping things will pick up in the romance department.

And as any self respecting protagonist, she manages to instantly stumble her way into the arms of a hero, who is of course besotted enough to feel considerable ,isa in wanting to curb such “exuberance”.
That would never, ever have happened and just reading about it was ridiculous. I loved meeting this new society… in parts it felt a bit like Gone With the Wind … in that the references to honor, duels, fistfights, slow-moving life, etc. Before you despair, remember that this is still Lisa Kleypas’ brand of universe, so our lovely heroine is obviously yor the little rebel. Hunter is allegedly her possibly dead husband, back from the dead maybe!
I’m not sure why, I love historicals and usually think nothing of a 15 year gap but this time it felt wrong. Just a moment while we sign you in to your Goodreads account.
Lysette is being forced into a marriage by her abusive step father. The “forced seduction” is a big trope in romance, especially in romances from the 80s and early 90s, but this wasn’t a case of that because Justin wasn’t the love interest, which made it seem extra strange and out of place. What Maximilien did not plan was that he would fall in love with Lysette.
This is actually a 3. What I did love about him was the way he fell in love with Lysette and totally doted on her and spoiled her rotten. He’s allegedly this superior assassin and goes woobly for her without any real reason.
While the English and New York citizens of the female persuasion may find themselves in possession of a modicum of freedom, even if mostly for show, New Orleans has a law against such frivolities. To ask other readers questions about Only in Your Armsplease sign up.
She is not meek and compliant, and she is not beautiful, yet he finds himself taken with her intelligence, her spirit, and most importantly, her total belief in his innocence.
Personally speaking, I found that Kleypas did an excellent job including this sub-story into her plot. The historical inaccuracy, which I can usually forgive, was just so glaring that I couldn’t stand it.
